Transitioning SA's Petrochemical Value Chain
Decarbonising Secunda and Sasolburg’s processes
In the section – What are Sasol’s decarbonisation plans, Sasol’s decarbonisation strategy was presented, which included plans to meet its 30% decarbonisation target by 2030, and net zero by 2050. Sasol’s strategy is focused on transitioning Secunda and then Sasolburg from highly emissions intensive facilities, to ones producing a largely green product slate, with the capture and storage or removal of residual emissions. In this section, further consideration is given to options for the decarbonisation of Sasol’s facilities, describing the options that Sasol has included in their plans in more detail, and combining these with further possible options for decarbonisation identified through the course of this study.
