Upstream of Secunda and Sasolburg, consideration is given to a selection of the process inputs, both those currently required for production, and those that may be required to transition towards a Paris-aligned future:

• Coal, mined and used for process and energy inputs.
• Natural gas used for process and energy inputs.
• Electricity, including that from the grid and that generated by Sasol, and from both fossil fuels and renewables.
• Green hydrogen, produced from water in electrolysers using renewable energy.
• Sustainable carbon, which may be sourced in various ways.
